Israel's war separates the decent left from the indecent left
By Dennis Prager
Poll
Will Hillary Clinton fight for the nomination past June 1st?

I believe the Left has been wrong on virtually every great moral issue in the last 30 years.

During that period, it was wrong on the Cold War -- it devoted far more energy to fighting anti-communism than to fighting communism.

It was wrong for attacking Israel for its destruction of Saddam Hussein's nuclear reactor.

It was wrong on welfare.

It was wrong in its demanding less morally and intellectually from black Americans than from all other Americans.

It was wrong in advocating bilingual education for children of immigrants.

It was wrong in generally holding American society rather than violent criminals responsible for violent crime.

It was wrong in imposing its view on abortion on America through the courts rather than through the democratic process.

It was wrong in teaching a generation of men and women that men and women differ because of socialization not because of innate sex differences.

It was wrong in reducing sex to a purely biological and health issue for a generation of young Americans.

It was wrong in identifying "flag waving" with fascism.

It was wrong in supporting the teachers' unions rather than students and educational reform.

It was wrong in allying itself with trial lawyers and blocking tort reform.

It was wrong in blocking the military from recruiting on campuses and teaching a generation of young Americans that "war is not the answer" when war is at times the one moral answer. Continued...

THROUGH A GLASS, DARKLY
That's the phrase that pops into my mind when I think about America and all the cogent points Mr. Prager enumerates.
In his observations he fails to note the rabid advocacy as promulgated by the left leaning liberal media. In bringing myself up to speed on the past previous columns at Townhall as well as the remarks posted by various readers it is just atonishing the amount of remarks as well as columns in various newspapers now reduced to saying that Israel was " a mistake."
That was the very essence of Richard Cohen's July 18th screed/screech in the Washington Post. He extolls how it was a "mistake" to place 500,000 European Jews in the Mideast. Several other readers at Townhall have said pretty much the same thing in their postings. The Jews should never have been sent to Palestine. The Jews should have been returned to their respective countries.
Returned to their countries?
Like France? They turned over their Jewish population to the Nazis faster than they asked for them. Same thing in the Netherlands. Poland? A rapid nest of anti-Semitism for centuries. Bulgaria? Romania? They had the Iron Guard which made the SS look like choir boys. The former Yugoslavia? The Ustase, Hitler's Muslim killers is what they had. How about the Baltic countries, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania? Can't do it. THEY KILLED THEM ALL!!!!!! At the end of the war in going through Heydrich's and Eichman's reports, these same nations were listed as being "jew free." And the Nazis didn't even have to break a sweat there, they were killed by their fellow citizens.
Tony Blankley, while appearing on loud mouth blowhard John Mclaughlin's group put it eloquently that Jews have been in that part of the world since recorded history. Sinai, Israel all played key roles in history when it was being written and made by such figures in history as Moses and others.
Does Mr. Cohen suggest that we should have put them someplace else? Madagascar, perhaps? Hmmmmm.. if memory serves me right, that is where the Nazis wanted to place them.
In her column yesterday, Suzanne Fields wrote about this very thing. For the life of me I cannot wrap my head around the fact the many liberal American Jews blame Israel for all the problems in this region. Didn't Begin negotiate with Egypt? Didn't Rabin negotiate with Arafat?
Haven't the Israelis made concessions time and again? Again, as Ms. Fields points out in her column, it's almost as if are they adopting the mindset of Jews in Europe during the 1930's when the storm clouds were gathering.
Pointing out the relativism that Mr. Prager writes about- which has been all the rage on the left in the past decade- we cannot "wish" this situation away. There are no "different truths."
We cannot put our heads in the sand. We and I mean Western civilazation is at war with feudal, feral minds who want to enslave us at best and destroy us at worse.
We have all got to get together on this. What will it take? Another 9/11? There will be one. Only this time it will be 30,000 or 300,000 dead.
God help us all.

The Great Bluff
For years, it appeared that Isreal was on (another) sad path to self-destruction. They seemed to want peace at any cost, just as too many of the Jews in Europe did a few generations ago.

Perhaps Ariel Sharone was wiser than we thought. Perhaps he know that the only way to rally the entire Jewish population was to call the bluff of Islam.

Let's hope the rest of the world doesn't have to take such risks beforer standing shoulder to shoulder with Israel.

Let us remember who the Moslems are. They elected terrorists to power in Palestine and Lebanon. Sunnis and Shia have launched death suads in Iraq against one another. They harbor terrorists in their neighborhoods. They imprison and even murder their own wives, daughters, and sisters. If they killed or subjugated every non-Moslem, they would kill one another with utter ferocity.

Death is what they want. It's time we give it to them, the way only the West can.
