The Tennessee Republican Party "welcomed" Michelle Obama's visit for a fundraiser Thursday night with an online video that takes the Democratic presidential front-runner's wife to task for a comment some considered unpatriotic.

Michelle Obama was campaigning in Wisconsin last February for her husband, Barack Obama, when she said: "For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country."

The four-minute video posted on YouTube is built around the remark, replaying it six times and interspersing it with commentary by Tennesseans, identified mostly by their first names, on why they are proud of America.

Michelle Obama later clarified the remark, saying she meant she was proud of how Americans were engaging in the political process and that she had always been proud of her country.

"The Tennessee Republican Party has always been proud of America," the party said in a news release that included a link to the video. It also urged radio stations to play "patriotic music" during her visit to Nashville on Thursday.

"I'm Bob Pope and I'm proud to be an American because mainly of the First Amendment _ the right to worship God anywhere I choose to _ and the Second Amendment, I've got the right keep and bear arms," he says, standing in front of a bank of guns mounted on the wall.

Obama's campaign accused the Tennessee GOP of engaging in smear politics and unfairly going after the candidate's family.

"This is a shameful attempt to attack a woman who has repeatedly said she wouldn't be here without the opportunities and blessings of this nation," spokesman Hari Sevugan said in a statement.

The state GOP was roundly criticized in March, including by likely presidential nominee John McCain, for a news release that used Barack Obama's middle name _ Hussein _ and showed a photo of him wearing what it said was "Muslim attire."

The release ultimately was removed from the party's Web site at the urging of the state's two Republican senators and Republican National Committee Chairman Mike Duncan, who said he "rejects these kinds of campaign tactics." Continued...

Subject: Red State Update should have done it
I clicked this link hoping that this video had been produced by this comedy duo - it certainly would have been funnier, more accurate, and more effective.

I do love the hypocrisy of the Democrats - Dukakis made fun of Dan Quayle's name in debates by saying his full name (not exactly easy to pull off when your own name is Dukakis, but introspection is not a trait Democratic leadership is good at). The ACLU demands that no politics be mentioned in any pulpit (if that pulpit is occupied by a conservative). The track record for appeasement by Democrats is unbroken from Jimmy Carter’s MANY negotiation sessions with third world totalitarians that generally consisted of “how much do we have to pay you for you to shut up and make this go away for a few news cycles?” to Albright clinking glasses with North Korea to shut down their plutonium enrichment – all the while ignoring the uranium enrichment that continued unabated. We have a track record with the Obamas of statements being repeated over and over until they are called on months later, only to say they were misquoted (on their own web site, from their own mouth? You mean like that “greatest hits on YouTube over and over” comment you made about Wright that he promptly put the lie to himself? Hmmmm….)

The reason Hillary is still in the race is because eventually these self-inflicted wounds will start to bleed Obama. What she doesn’t seem to realize is that it won’t happen in any visible way to their blinded voter base until some time after the nomination.

Oh, Come On Now
If Obama is ashamed of his middle name then why not change it? He attacks the Republicans and the Conservatives, yet he blessed his old preacher for 20 years and said he was his mentor. The left wing nuts critize when any thing is published with the sign of the cross, yet when Obama stands with the Cross directly behind him, they say nothing. He would not be wearing the flag pin if he didn't think so many people were asking why? His lame excuse for this ment nothing. He says he is a uniter, yet he has split up this country between blacks because he really thinks America should pay them for the past.

Obama is a fake and the sooner Americans who support him realize this, the sooner American voters will turn away from him.

McCain is not a perfect Conservative, but he does believe in our Constitution and what it stands for and he is trying to unite this Country rather then pulling it apart the way so many Liberals are trying to do. Look at Congress, they attach an illegal amendment to every bill they want to pass. If they have their way, the illegals in this country can stay and continue to take our jobs away.

It is time to quit listening to the left wing news media and think for ourselves. Try it you may like it.
