Goin' Down to Athens... |

I took a trip down to the ol' alma mater this weekend, nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Georgia mountains, over-run with red pick-ups and redder necks, where the beer flows and the chicken fries in preparation for Saturday services at Sanford Stadium, and airbrushed tributes to the Junkyard Dawgs lovingly sprayed upon the sides of RVs are the highest form of fandom.
Sigh, I love the SEC. It was a blessedly beautiful day for football, and the Dawgs came away with a win on homecoming, as expected. It was good to be back.
I knew there was a reason they put these giant Bulldogs all over downtown Athens. Public art or drinking buddy? Looks like he's dressed for a toga party to me.
The girls, after the game. That's my friend Angela on the left, Emily Dunham in the middle, and me on the right. All pictures by Emily because I didn't feel like carrying my camera.
 Into the stadium...kick-off's a-comin'!
Wow, you might be a redneck if... the women's bathroom at your alma mater requires this particular signage.
 Thing of beauty.

I bought tickets on the road before the game and they belonged to a season-ticket-holding alum who had paid the upgrade to have his seats padded. Bonus!
Good times.
