Someone who is trained and has first hand knowledge about mental illness will help you get the information you need, regardless of whether the person is currently receiving treatment. The website, www.USVetSpace.com, is styled after other popular social networking sites and provides a virtual space online for US Veterans to send messages and befriend one another, find old service buddies, create personal profiles and homepages, share phoots in digital photo albums, interact in forums and online clubs, learn about benefits, participate in polls, and read current news articles on veterans' interests.
The basic membership is available free of cost to all veterans, immediate family members and registered auxiliaries. Veterans National Radio Inc. has pledged to donate a substantial percentage of funds raised by paid membership packages on USVetSpace.com to aid national veterans' causes.

The Director of the Governor's Veteran's Outreach and Assistance Center, Mr. Ronald Pennypacker will be available on various days, at the Veterans Resource Center, 801 Arch St., (call to confirm date) between 10am and 2pm. He'll also be at The Vet Center, 101 East Olney Ave., between 10am and 2pm on Friday, July 11 -- call to confirm and for specific future dates.
He will provide assistance with disability claims, records/medals replacement, and assistance with job search. For veterans who qualify, he can make applications for the Cold War Recognition Certificate (active duty service anytime between the dates of Sept. 2, 1945 and Dec 26, 1991). Applications can also be made for the Korean War Service Medal if the veteran qualifies. (The veteran must have been in Korea during the War.)
Veterans or surviving family members may apply for these services with proof of active duty service. Please feel free to visit with Mr. Pennypacker for any of your veteran concerns.

The new foreign language PCA Helplines are in Cambodian, Chinese, Hindi (Asian Indian), Korean and Vietnamese. PCA's main Helpline no., 215-765-9040, offers callers both Spanish and English alternatives. Based at 401 East Girard Ave., the organization was started 95 years ago and has provided needed services to thousands of Philadelphia's poor, homeless and needy. They are committed to rescuing men, women and children from the streets and to bring the good news of hope to those they serve. This is done through individual donations, annual fundraising events and very limited government funding.
In addition to the above, Brotherhood Mission supplies three meals a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
