Paris Hilton and immigration reform

Poll
Who won Tuesday's presidential debate?

Why did the immigration bill fail? Ask Paris Hilton.

Don't ask President Bush, who signaled his final divorce from contact with reality on the ground here in America by telling a journalist in Bulgaria, "I'll see you at the bill-signing."

Don't ask Harry Reid, whose favorability ranking tanked to 19 percent in the latest Rasmussen poll. A new Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll found Congress' approval ratings are now the lowest in a decade -- just 27 percent. At 36 percent, Nancy Pelosi's approval ratings now rival Bush's. Both Democrats appear remarkably unfazed: "Representatives of Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Democrats were undeterred by the public's anger," reports the Los Angeles Times.

Don't ask Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., whose presidential candidacy just dead-ended after he came out swinging in favor of the immigration bill. Fred Thompson has risen to a virtual dead heat with Rudy Giuliani in the latest poll, while McCain has sunk into a race for fourth place with Mitt Romney.

Certainly don't ask any of the other myriad establishment figures who see public opposition to immigration reform as fueled by nativist horror against Hispanics.

Instead, pay close attention to the public furor aroused by Paris Hilton's early release from jail. Now, when I saw the young woman crying for her mother, I felt sorry for her. Yes, Paris Hilton needs to know she has to respect the law, but three days in jail for someone like her is certainly enough to teach her a lesson she'll never forget. Suffice it to say, most Americans felt differently, and in their intense negative reactions there's a clue to the similar intense public outrage on immigration.

The American people are not racists. They don't hate immigrants. They believe in the rule of law, yes. But there's an even more basic issue raised by both the immigration bill and Paris Hilton's untimely release: To whom does our government respond?

To the connected few? Or to us, the American people?

The pervasive sense of the American people is that our government -- Democrat or Republican -- is not responsive to us. The latest Rasmussen poll showed just 23 percent of Americans supported the Senate immigration legislation, while 50 percent were opposed. Pluralities of Republicans, Democrats, unaffiliated voters, male voters, female voters, older voters, younger voters, white voters and voters of colors all opposed the bill. ("When a bill has less popular support than the War in Iraq, it deserves to be defeated," the Rasmussen report points out.) Continued...

Subject: top 10 problems with pending Scamnesty
http://vdare.com/misc/070607_economist.htm

The above is a literate analysis of the GLARING, EGREGIOUS flaws in the pending Scamnesty legislation. The new Rasmussen makes pretty clear that almost 3/4 of us want REAL ENFORCEMENT first and foremost:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/just_26_favor_senate_immigration_plan

Some key excerpts from Rasmussen:
________________________________________________

The enforcement side of the debate is clearly where the public passion lies on the issue. Seventy-two percent (72%) of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to improve its enforcement of the borders and reduce illegal immigration.” That view is held by 89% of Republicans, 65% of Democrats, and 63% of unaffiliated voters.

Advocates of “comprehensive” reform have taken to arguing that those who want an enforcement-only policy must explain how they would deal with the 12 million illegal aliens already living in the country. The public reaction to that question appears to be “Why?” Only 29% of voters say it is Very Important for “the government to legalize the status of illegal aliens already in the United States.”

Presidente Jorge and many in Congress have NO INTENTION WHATSOEVER of ever defending our border or enforcing immigration laws internally. We need to VOCIFEROUSLY make clear that this nonfeasance, indeed treason and violation of his oath of office, is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

Contact your people in Congress at their OFFICIAL sites right here, folks:

http://www.congressmerge.com/onlinedb/index.htm

DO NOT DELAY!!! Presidente Jorge again thinks he knows what is best for you even when 72% of us disagree with that quisling boob!

Start with your 2 Senators, then contact your personal Congressman and the others in your state. Let freedom ring out! It is time to demand that we save America for Americans before we all become just the educated, taxpaying gringo minority!!

May God bless and PRESERVE America! It would be a terrible thing to lose. It is in dire risk of morphing inexorably into a third world welfare state if we do not stanch the tsunami of undereducated, indigent ILLEGALS flooding in and permeating throughout.

Jorge's broken promises and lies
Presidente Jorge and his ilk have indeed renegged on commitments and artfully lied about their ulterior agendas. This is perhaps what REALLY prompts the unbridled animus among those of us who held our noses and voted twice for him, but are now righteously indignant about a number of things, mainly the war of choice without end in Iraq and the emperor's new clothes Scamnesty effort.

It was not WE who broke our commitments, radically changed courses, chose to spend and grow govt. like drunken 'Crats, engendered a foreign war against the wrong enemy at the wrong time (per many generals and intelligence experts), sold out America with promises to Mexico, or abandoned conservative principles (see the Rx Care For Seniors boondoggle, No Bureaucrat Left Behind, promising welfare and S.S. to Mexico). We don't have "a broken immigration system"... we have instead a feckless Prez who has been criminally nonfeasant in not defending and protecting our border and upholding laws he himself signed (border fence, more border guards, workplace enforcement, etc.).

I was going to cite some examples, but chanced upon a concurrent post that says it tellingly, saliently, and compellingly... I am sure that the author will not mind my paying homage to her straightforward wisdom by transferring it here:

Foaming at the mouth?

I live in an ultra liberal city. I have been cussed out on the street for having a Bush sticker on my car. I trusted Bush. I trusted him when he said he needed fast track. Thought he was just working for the safety of our country. Then I found out if was so he could pass these trade agreements to screw Americans without any opposition. I bought it all.

Then there was Harriet Miers. Out of control spending, etc. And the war in Iraq. We are spending billions for "national security" and he is leaving the back door wide open. Real people are dying in Iraq. Mothers' children! Since when is welfare democracy a conservative principle? Who is retarded enough to think that a civilization that likes to behead people on camera and send the images around the world to inspire their comrades is even capable of understanding the principles of democracy! They want Sharia law.

I don't remember anyone coming over and handing us our freedom when we were 13 colonies taking on the super power of the day. Helping them help themselves is one thing, but this is nothing more than welfare democracy and has about the same chance of working as any other form of welfare.

I hung in there with Bush until the day I found about the real plan. That he is working for the destruction of our country. I know what it is to work for a living. I am outraged that he has the nerve to tell us that WE do not want what is good for America? He is supposedly a CHRISTIAN?! I am a Christian and I know the end of the story when it comes to one world government. How can he be going along with this?

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/04/20070430-4.html (where is it in the constitution that we are supposed to advance a globalist agenda and economic integration with the EU? If some say I am delusional about what is going on, consider that this is from the White House web site!)

Carter and George have a lot in common. Go to augustreview.com. Read everything there if you don't already know what the agenda is. Carter was their first president. Bush probably won't succeed totally in completing the visio, but he is coming close. The goal for the NAU is 2010.

He is a traitor. He has betrayed the trust of the people and the oath he took to uphold the constitution of this country.

I depise him now.
