Last quarter’s economic growth revised up to healthy 3.4% annual rate

VERBATIM: The Commerce Department says the latest figure was an upgrade from its previous estimate of 3.2%. The department’s revised measure of the nation’s gross domestic product confirmed that the economy decelerated from its 4.9% rate of expansion in the July-to-September quarter. But last quarter’s growth came in the face of higher interest rates and was powered by growing consumer spending, exports and business investment in buildings and software.

Maryland receives $60 million in immediate federal aid for bridge, port

The state of Maryland is already receiving some federal assistance after the Baltimore bridge collapse. The Biden administration has approved 60-million dollars in immediate federal aid to help remove the wreckage of the fallen highway bridge and reopen the Port of Baltimore. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Navy are mobilizing resources from around the country at record speed to clear the channel. Maryland Governor Wes Moore said his state is “deeply grateful” for the federal funds and said there is a “very long road ahead.”

Trump Media Surges In First Day Of Trading On Wall Street

Shares of Donald Trump’s social media company rose about 16% in the first day of trading. The winning session boosted the value of Donald Trump’s large stake in the company as well as that of smaller investors, many of whom purchased shares as a show of support for the former president. Trump holds a nearly 60% stake in Trump Media & Technology Group. Based on Tuesday’s closing stock price the company –which runs the social media platform Truth Social-is worth about $4.6 Billion.

Evangelicals want action on immigration

VERBATIM: According to a new survey by LifeWay Research, the surge in illegal border crossings during the Biden administration is worrying Evangelical Christians. 80% want Congress to take action to stop the flow. Lifeway spokesman Scott McConnell says “The urgency continues to grow for Congress to act this year to improve laws around immigration.” The poll also finds that Evangelicals are concerned for the welfare of illegal aliens and want to share the gospel with them. Inflation gauge shows price pressures easing gradually

An inflation gauge closely tracked by the Federal Reserve shows price pressures easing gradually. It’s called the PCE Index and it shows that prices rose zero-point-3 percent from January to February. That’s a slightly smaller increase from the month before. Even so, inflation remains stubbornly above the Fed’s two percent annual target despite repeated interest rate hikes.
