Why did Republicans lose in the 2008 elections?

Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman will be out at least another month after surgery for a sports hernia.

That means Adam "Pacman" Jones will remain in the starting lineup _ at least for Sunday's game against Arizona.

Newman missed the preseason and the season opener because of a groin injury. He then played in three games before getting hurt again in practice last week. He had surgery Friday in North Carolina and the earliest he is likely to return is mid-November.

Newman, the 2003 first-round pick going into his sixth NFL season, earned his first Pro Bowl appearance last season after missing the first two games of the regular season with an injured right foot. In his first four seasons, Newman started every game.

The NFL is investigating Jones' scuffle with his bodyguard, but said its review won't be completed until next week. The Dallas Cowboys had already said they won't discipline Jones, but it's unclear if the league will take any punitive action.

Six weeks ago, Jones was fully reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell from a 17-month suspension, including the entire 2007 season, that followed a series of off-field problems.

Jones got into a scuffle at a downtown Dallas hotel Tuesday night with a member of a security detail the Cowboys provided to be with the cornerback at all times.

Dallas will be without two safeties Sunday. Pro Bowler Roy Williams (fractured forearm) returned to practice on a limited basis this week but will miss his fourth consecutive game. Patrick Watkins (neck) is also out.
