Why did Republicans lose in the 2008 elections?

Mike Brown ran for two touchdowns to lead Furman to a 28-21 win against Western Carolina on Saturday.

Brown ran for 122 yards and two scores on 16 carries for the Paladins (5-2, 2-1 Southern Conference).

Zach Jaynes completed 33 of 48 passes for 302 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He added 36 yards rushing on nine carries and a touchdown for the Catamounts (2-5, 0-3).

Brown's first 2-yard scoring run, which was the only score of the opening quarter, put the Paladins on the board first.

The Furman tailback's second 2-yard rush made it 14-0 to start the second quarter, and Jordan Sorrells hooked up with Chris Truss on a 12-yard passing score to extend the lead to 21 points before Jaynes hit Anderius Thomas for a 13-yard score to cut the Paladin lead to 21-7 at halftime.

Jaynes found Kyle Garland on a 12-yard scoring pass to pull the Catamounts within one touchdown to open the third, but Brantley Kendall's 4-yard rush gave Furman a 28-14 going into the fourth.

A late 4-yard rushing score by Jaynes pulled the Catamounts back within one touchdown, but Western Carolina turned the ball over on downs at the Furman 23 with 29 seconds left in the game to seal it.
