Why did Republicans lose in the 2008 elections?

Sean Schaefer completed 25 of 34 passes for 373 yards and four touchdowns and Matt Castor had 111 yards and a score to lead Towson to a 37-32 win over Rhode Island on Saturday.

Schaefer became the 20th quarterback in the history of the Football Championship Subdivision to pass for 10,000 yards. His 64-yard touchdown pass to David Newsom was the longest play of the season for the Tigers (3-4, 1-2 Colonial Athletic Association).

Freshman Brandon Johnson-Farrell had eight kickoff returns for 198 yards and a touchdown for the Rams (2-5, 0-3). Rhode Island quarterback Derek Cassidy completed 22 of 45 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns.

After falling behind 9-0 in the opening 2:24, Towson outscored Rhode Island 37-23 the rest of the way. The Tigers had 467 total yards of offense, compared to 363 for Rhode Island.

Rhode Island trailed 37-19 with 6:28 left in the fourth quarter, but a 1-yard run by Jimmy Hughes and a 30-yard pass from Cassidy to Shawn Leonard cut the score 37-32 with 3:40 left. Rhode Island got down to the Towson 29-yard line in the final two minutes, but could not score.

Rhode Island opened a nine-point lead without running an offensive play on a safety and Johnson-Farrell kickoff return. Towson responded with 9 unanswered points in the opening quarter on a field goal and 24-yard pass from Schaefer to Casey Cegles and the teams were tied at halftime.
