Wofford defeats Chattanooga 56-7

Why did Republicans lose in the 2008 elections?



Ben Widmyer accounted for four touchdowns to lead Wofford to a 56-7 rout over Chattanooga Saturday.

Widmyer completed 3 of 5 passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 158 yards and two more scores on eight carries for the Terriers (4-1, 2-0 Southern Conference).

The Terriers outgained the Moccasins (1-6, 0-3) 564-191 in the game.

Widmyer scored the only points of the opening quarter with a 75-yard run, which Chattanooga matched when Jare Gault connected with Chris Pitchford on an 11-yard touchdown to open the second at 7-7.

But it would be all Wofford the rest of the way as Widmyer ran for a 35-yard score and connected with Fenn Allen on a 28-yard pass to make it 28-7 at halftime.

The Terriers scored 28 unanswered points in the second half, including Widmyer's 50-yard touchdwon pass to Andy Strickland. Dane Romero's 5-yard rush, Arsenio Parks' 20-yard run and Robby Davis' 11-yard scamper blew the game open for Wofford in the second half.
