Here's What Happened When a New York Homeowner Found Squatters on Her Property

Last month, Townhall reported how an illegal alien TikTok influencer posted a video urging illegals to “invade” homes in the United States and invoke squatter’s rights to stay there.

In the video, influencer Leonel Moreno said, “If a house is not inhabited, we can seize it,” and boasted that he has “African friends” who’ve “already taken about seven homes.” Moreno said he thinks that invading homes will be his “next business.”

Shortly after, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a law removing squatters’ rights in the state, which Townhall also covered.

“What the squatters know, is that, even when they’re in the wrong, it’s a massive process many times before they can be evicted…we don’t want the law to have the thumb on the scale in favor of people that are violating the law,” DeSantis said. “We have not had the same type of issues here as you’ve seen in California or New York.”

This week, it was revealed that a New York homeowner found herself removed from her property and placed under arrest after she changed the locks after finding squatters in her home.

According to the Queens District Attorney, the woman, Adele Andaloro, inherited a home from her father. In February, Andaloro made a regularly scheduled stop to check on the home. A few weeks prior, the house was unoccupied and unchanged. Andaloro showed up and discovered that the front door was changed without her permission.

As the days went by, Andaloro discovered that a man, Brian Rodriguez, was inside the home, She had not given him permission to be there. On Feb. 19, Rodriguez told Andaloro that he was leasing the property when she confronted him (via QueensDA.org):

  • On February 29, the homeowner observed several others staying in her house without permission. After one of these occupants left the location with the front door ajar, Andaloro entered the property and observed that several new locks have been added to the front door.

  • She called a locksmith and immediately changed the locks.

  • Later that same day, Rodriguez came to the location and forced his way into the residence by pushing the door open as the homeowner struggled to keep the door closed while ordering him to leave the premises.

  • When police officers arrived at the scene, Rodriguez claimed that he was a legal tenant being harassed by the owner to unlawfully evict him. Andaloro was then removed from the property.

According to Newsweek, Andaloro was led away from her home in handcuffs before she met with authorities to resolve the issue. The Queens District Attorney's office confirmed to the outlet that there were "no charges pending against Adele Andaloro."
