Why did Republicans lose in the 2008 elections?

Freshman tailback Asher Clark ran for 109 yards and a touchdown to help Air Force beat San Diego State 35-10 on Saturday night.

Air Force's triple-option ground attack piled up 401 yards on 77 attempts and the Falcons (4-2, 2-1 Mountain West) scored 28 second-half points.

Freshman Tim Jefferson, making his first start at quarterback, directed three scoring drives. He ran for 55 yards and scored a touchdown on a 1-yard run that capped a game-opening, 78-yard drive.

Todd Newell also scored a touchdown for Air Force and ran for 77 yards, while Kyle Lumpkin added 71 yards on the ground. The Falcons' Justin Moore intercepted Drew Westling's pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Senior quarterback Shea Smith completed the scoring with a 32-yard pass to Josh Cousins after another interception by safety Chris Thomas.

The Falcons' Jake Paulson, who came into the game leading the nation in sacks with seven, added his eighth and ninth of the season.

The Aztecs' Westling, subbing for the injured Ryan Lindley (separated shoulder), directed a 73-yard scoring drive midway through the second quarter. Free safety Corey Boudreaux had a career-high 21 tackles for San Diego State (1-5, 0-2).
