“Large groups present a unique challenge for the men and women of the Del Rio Sector,” Chief Border Patrol Agent of the Del Rio Sector Raul Ortiz said in a statement. “This large group from Africa further demonstrates the complexity and severity of the border security and humanitarian crisis at our Southwest border.”

U.S. Border Patrol Agents apprehend 116 Illegal Aliens

Since the beginning of the year, Border Patrol agents have apprehended more than 500,000 people illegally crossing into the U.S., putting the country on track for one million detentions by the end of 2019.

Large groups are increasingly becoming a problem for Border Patrol to control. Last week a group of 1000 people illegally crossed into the U.S. in the El Paso Sector. This was the largest group on record.
